I'm trying to find a place where I can ask other donors about their experience after the retrieval. I just donated for the second time and my recovery has been so completely different that I am actually worried. I've found with my agency and everything online that the focus is on the receipiants rather than the donors and there isn't very much information on what to expect. the differences in my recovery this time as compared to last time started almost immediately after my surgery - I fainted (which I've never done before). I've had intense nausea and swelling (2-3 times my normal stomach size) accompanied with difficulty breathing and intense back pain. the actual abdominal pain is minimal in comparison. I have to work tomorrow and I don't know if I'll even be able to fit into my work clothes, let alone function throughout the day with the pain. Has anyone had similar experiences? I see that no one's updated on here for almost a year but this is the only thing i could find not focused on the receipiants. I don't regret donating, but I don't deny the comparisons that can be drawn to The Handmaid's Tale in that donors are treated as if they don't exist with all the importance placed on the mothers.

I just finished the donor process and I'm in a lot of pain. I have vomiting and diarrhea and hot flashes. It's been 3 days since the egg retrieval. Tylenol, heating pad or anything I try is not working. It's almost unbearable. I literally feel like my insides are being torn apart. Is there something, anything, I can do to make the pain stop?

Hello, I am considering being a doner and I am 34 years old. Would I be accepted? I am also wanting to what happens to the doner, does it hurt, and if the family ever reviews who I am?

I am curious about the age requirement for egg donors. What makes a woman over the age of 30, not a good candidate for donation? I would be interested in becoming a donor, but saw the age limit was 30. I am 33. Thank you!

Since I don't know that specifics on your case I would ask the coordinator at the agency you are working with if she can get your medical records or maybe call the clinic that you were working with and ask speak with the Doctor or your nurse coordinator there and ask them if they recommend that you be a donor again. Sometimes in this case your estrogen level gets too high and they cancel and start over again. In other cases they just suggest to the couple to try with a different donor. But the person that you should ask is your Doctor.

They did do blood levels and they were not right. After all did decide to cancle the cycle. I feel badly for the family.Does this mean I just dont respond to that specific medication or would I probably never respond to any? Shoud I even bother to try again for another family?

You had mentioned that this was your first donation correct? Sometimes donor's just don't respond to the medication. I would just keep close contact with your donor nurse coordinator at your clinic.
This is a good example why a lot of couple want to pick a donor that has donated before so they can see how you did on your first cycle etc.. unfortunately this happens. Did your clinic do a cycle day three blood draw and ultrasound on you when you first started this cycle?
